Tillamook Cheese Visitor’s Center – This is one of the most
popular tourist destinations in Oregon, which welcomes more than one

Outdoor Recreational Activities
|
Some of the most popular outdoor activities in
Tillamook County include the many scenic views, fishing, clamming and
kayaking.
Hiking. Who knew you could see the highest coastal waterfall in
Oregon, roam a wildlife refuge, and view an octopus-shaped tree all in the
same county? Tillamook County offers a wide variety of hiking adventures.

Neahkahnie Mountain – Take the 1 ½ mile hike up to an elevation of
900 feet to enjoy a breathtaking view of Manzanita.
The
trail is located off Highway 101 just south of Oswald West State
Park on the east side of the highway. For more information visit

Cape Meares Lighthouse & Wildlife Refuge
- Located ten miles west of the city of Tillamook is the Cape Meares State
Scenic viewpoint. This area has many hikes, with historical sites such as
the Cape Meares Lighthouse built in 1890, The Arch Rocks National Wildlife
Refuge and the Octopus Tree (featured in Ripley’s Believe it or Not). For

Munson Creek Falls – Located about seven miles south of the city of
Tillamook is the highest waterfall on the Oregon coast. Hike the ¼-mile
path and you will end up at the base of the 266-foot waterfall. For more

Bay Ocean Spit – Situated on Tillamook Bay, the spit was home to a
popular beach resort in the early 1900’s. The community included a hotel,
natatorium, gas station, railroad and various other entities including
residences and a tent city. The entire resort was washed away when a jetty
was constructed at the mouth of Tillamook Bay. The spit is now a popular
destination for hiking, horseback and bike riding, bird watching, and
various other outdoor activities. Take State Route 131 (Third Street
westbound) and turn right just west of the Tillamook River toward Cape
Meares. Take the dike road to the parking lot.

Throughout Tillamook County there are many beautiful sites to see. One
of the most plentiful is Three Capes Scenic Drive, which takes you past
many of the highlights of the Tillamook County coastline including Cape
Kiwanda, Cape Lookout and Cape Meares.
The Three Capes Scenic Drive Loop is a great meandering drive that
follows a 40 mile route starting north in Garibaldi and ending in south
in Pacific City. You'll see spectacular ocean views, along with sand
dunes at Sandlake, the lighthouse at Cape Meares, the Octopus Tree, the 3 Arches, Hay
Stack Rock as well as Netarts and Tillamook Bays.

The Oregon Coast is known for its great fishing and seafood. Within

boat or being directed to the nearest “hot spot” where you can catch
salmon, tuna, crab and razor clams.

Whales travel along the Oregon coast and can be seen year round.

seabirds. While there is never a time of year without exciting bird
