2008 Taste of Tillamook Volunteer Position Descriptions

 
ADMISSION BOOTH ASSISTANT
Greet the public and welcome them to the event. Conduct a very quick survey to find out the number of people in the party, where they are from, and how many kids, adults, seniors are in the party. This person will also, when able, begin to tally that survey information, which will help the event get a more accurate count of the number of people at the event. Other duties as necessary. Generally two people per shift. During the less busy times, one per shift.


ENTRY BOOTH/GREETER
Greet the public and welcome them to the event, hand out programs, People’s Choice ballots and any other printed materials. Other duties as necessary. Generally two people per shift. During the less busy times, one per shift.


INFORMATION BOOTH/PEOPLE’S CHOICE CONTEST
You are a reference for the visitors, answering any questions they have about the event, Tillamook County or even giving directions to other attractions in the area. The People’s Choice ballot box will be located at this booth. Collect ballots, tally the votes and help them enter the door prize drawings. Generally two people per shift. During the less busy times, one per shift.


LITTER PATROL AND RECYCLING
You keep the event looking neat and clean! Wipe down the tables as needed. Check all of the garbage cans around the event and empty them into the dumpster when full. Recycle the bottles and cardboard boxes from the wine vendors and place in the appropriate recycling bins. Clean up any spills/sweep up any trash. Other duties as necessary.


MERCHANDISE SHOP
This is for Taste of Tillamook County merchandise. Customer service is important. You will act as a cashier and run the cash register and credit card machine. You will be handling money and must be comfortable counting money, running the cash register and making correct change in a potentially very busy setting. You will need to stock merchandise as needed. Other duties as necessary. Generally two people per shift. During the less busy times, one per shift. Friday and Saturday evening, this shift will end at 8 p.m.

KITCHEN ASSISTANT/DISHWASHER
Because we have so many cooking demonstrations and competitions, we need some help in the kitchen setting-up and cleaning-up from these events. You will assist with cooking event set-ups and break-down as needed in the kitchen and at the kitchen stage, which includes clearing dishes, washing dishes, checking and stocking the judges’ table, and other duties as necessary.
