2008 Taste of Tillamook County
Amateur Mac-n-Cheese Contest
Rules for Participation
- No purchase necessary.
- Mac-n-Cheese Contest entry forms must be received by the Economic Development Council of Tillamook County no later than Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008.
- This contest is open to all Oregon residents who are amateur chefs or cooking enthusiasts.
- Those entering may not be employed as a professional chef, cook in the food service industry or cook in the course of employment.
- Committee members of the Taste of Tillamook County and their families are not eligible to enter.
- All Mac-n-Cheese entries must contain pasta and Tillamook© cheese among the other ingredients. Tillamook© cheese must be the primary cheese used in the entry; the flavor used is at the discretion of the entrant and the use of other cheeses is acceptable. The pasta choice is at the discretion of the entrant. Entries may include any pasta style, flavor or freshness (fresh versus dry).

Boxed mixes, either generic or brand name, are not permitted and will cause you to be disqualified.

All entries for the Mac-n-Cheese Contest will be prepared at home in advance of the judging.

The entrant’s containers or dishes will be returned.

The Economic Development Council of Tillamook County and the Taste of Tillamook County committee are not responsible for lost, late or misdirected mail, e-mail or entries.

The Economic Development Council of Tillamook County and the Taste of Tillamook County committee reserves the right to publish the name and/or likeness of winners and their recipe without additional notice or compensation, in any manner, and at their discretion in all advertising materials.

This contest is subject to all applicable state, federal and local regulations.
The Economic Development Council of Tillamook County and The Taste of Tillamook County committee have the right to cancel this contest without notice.

All state, federal and local taxes are the responsibility of the winner.

By filling out the entry form, contestants agree that the Economic Development Council of Tillamook County, its employees and their families; the Taste of Tillamook County committee and their families; and the Taste of Tillamook County sponsors, vendors, participants or volunteers, and the employees or families associated with those organizations shall have no liability in connection with acceptance or use of prizes awarded.
Preliminary Mac-n-Cheese Contest Judging Event
- The preliminary judging event will be Saturday, March 1, 2008, starting at 10 a.m. at the Tillamook Cheese Visitors Center.
- Judging will be staggered. Entries will be assigned a time frame for when to arrive with their entry ready to be judged.
- Mac-n-Cheese Contest entries must be ready to be judged upon arrival. Overall presentation of the entry is at the discretion of the entrant. However, preliminary judging is blind and entries will be served to the judges by a committee member.
- A printed copy of recipe must accompany the entry.
- Only one entry per person will be accepted.
- Entries will be scored on overall appearance, flavor and creativity.
- Entrants not following the ingredient requirements will be disqualified.
- The top scoring entries in the preliminary event will advance to the final event scheduled for
Saturday, March 15, 2008, at the Taste of Tillamook County.
- All finalists will be notified by phone by Wednesday, March
5. Only the finalists will be notified. The judges’ decisions are final.
- Scores from the preliminary event will not be made public.
- In the event that a preliminary finalist is unable to participate in the finals, his or her place will be given to the next highest scoring preliminary entry.
Final Mac-n-Cheese Contest Judging Event
- All Mac-n-Cheese Contest entries in the finals must be received at the Tillamook County Fairgrounds, ready to be judged, by 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2008. The event will begin at 11 a.m.
- Entries will be scored on overall appearance, flavor and creativity.
- At the final event, entrants will be asked to dish out an individual serving from their Mac-n-Cheese entry to each of the judges for scoring. This will be part of their presentation score.
- Winners will be announced after the judges have finished scoring all entries.
- The entry with the highest score will be the winner and all prizes will be awarded during the announcement of the winner at the 2008 Taste of Tillamook County at the Tillamook County Fairgrounds.
- Final scores will not be made public.
- The judges’ decisions are final.
- All Mac-n-Cheese Contest entries (submitted recipes) become the property of the Economic Development Council of Tillamook County and will not be returned. However, the dishes and containers will be returned to the entrant.
